A fire that broke out at a pallet storage facility destroyed one South Phoenix home and sparked the evacuation of nearly two dozen more Sunday afternoon.

Some 60 firefighters from Glendale, Tolleson, Glendale and Avondale were called out to fight the two-alarm fire at 68th Avenue and Adams Street.

Crew had some trouble getting to the fire at first, but they were eventually able to get a handle on it and protect nearby homes.

It's not clear if the evacuated residents have been allowed to return home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
