2009-05-28 Pall-Ex offers self-labelling
Pall-Ex says its new online system, which is designed to streamline the process of labelling pallets, will save its members "time and money". The pallet network says depot managers can now create a computerised label on the Pall-Ex system, which the haulier's customer can pick up and attach to each pallet.
Until now, members have had to record what pallets have come into their depots, create labels for them, and then attach these to the pallets themselves. Sean Sherwin-Smith, Pall-Ex IT director, says: "Although it is difficult to put a figure to it at this stage, we believe this will save our members time and money as it will make the labelling process more efficient."
Pall-Ex is also recommending Navman Wireless to any members interested in vehicle tracking, with those who sign up being given discounts on group training courses. Sherwin-Smith, adds: "The integration with Navman will allow us to introduce members to clever technological developments, such as enabling them to track individual vehicles through our system."
Meanwhile, several Pall-Ex members have been involved in a trial of Honeywell Dolphin 7600 scanners.
