Fire raced through a Pella business Monday morning.
The fire started around 4:30 a.m. at the Skunk River Block & Pallet at 311 Southeast 14th St.
It quickly burned through more than 600,000 feet of wood stacked in the company's 30,000-square-foot building. The pine boards are used to build pallets and wooden crates.
No one was hurt in the fire.
"They have a tremendous amount of wood storage inside the building, already pre-made pallets, all that is burning…We're in the process of picking debris off the top so we can get at the fire," said Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom.
Pella firefighters are expected to remain at the scene through the afternoon.
Company officials estimate the fire caused more than $1 million in damage.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
