2008-03-02 More managers at pallet company accused of illegal hiring
A San Antonio man was indicted today on charges of conspiring to harbor and transport illegal immigrants as part of a federal investigation into a Houston-based subsidiary.
Charles Davidson is a vice president of IFCO Systems North America, which recycles trucking pallets.
The federal probe into the company began at a plant in Albany. Prosecutors say IFCO not only hired the illegal workers but sought to keep them employed.
IFCO has said it did not set out as corporate strategy to hire undocumented workers, and that the company is now enrolled in a federal screening program.
A year ago, five former managers of the company pleaded guilty to charges similar to those facing Davidson.
