2008-02-07 Xterprise RFID Strategy AssessmentTM Gaining Market Traction

Working Closely With Suppliers Impacted by Sam's Club and California ePedigree RFID Requirement

Xterprise Incorporated, the leading global supplier of Solutions for the High Definition Enterprise™ and a Gold-Certified Microsoft™ ISV partner, announced today it has been awarded multiple contracts to assist retail suppliers with comprehensive strategy development to meet immediate and longer term requirements from the recently announced Sam's Club pallet, case and item level RFID source tagging requirements. Leveraging more than four years of experience developing source tagging strategies and deploying solutions for many of the largest global consumer products manufacturers, Xterprise has developed a unique strategic consulting offering, The RFID Strategy Assessment™ (RSA), for this new wave of source tagging requirements.

Xterprise has determined the most recent source tagging requirements announced by Sam's Club will require well more than 1,000,000,000 RFID tagged pallets, cases and items to be processed each year. This significant ramp-up begins in October 2008, and peaks in January 2010, when all cases, mixed pallets and items tagging will be required for shipments to 22 Sam's Club distribution centers. This is significant, as a representative large supplier of product to Sam's Club will be required to tag over 10,000,000 cases each year. Xterprise has also determined that the majority suppliers today are tagging less than 100,000 cases per year and are largely supporting this volume with manual slap-and-ship solutions -- clearly not an option for the scale of the Sam's Club ramp-up.

The Xterprise RSA includes four customer selectable modules that define key components of any RFID source tagging strategy:
