It took firefighters from Walker and Grand Rapids three hours Saturday to put out a pallet fire at Bergsma Pallet Co.

Plumes of black smoke were visible for miles as firefighters battled the blaze, which started at 3:45 p.m. outside the building at 1426 Pannell Road NW.

Dispatchers said crews did not leave the scene until shortly before 7 p.m. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
