2007-12-13 Storm Lake, IA Warehouse 'Total Loss' After Fire
A warehouse, in Storm Lake, Iowa, which housed more than a dozen businesses, is a total loss following a Tuesday morning fire.
Just before 4:00 a.m. a fire was reported at Tassler Pallet company. Firefighters have been on scene ever since. Flames rose up to 30-feet in the air. Tuesday night, authorities said the blaze was contained, but would continue to burn. About 30 employees at Tassler's will be displaced. Many other employees at neighboring companies in the same facility will also be out of work. "We've lost several walls on it, and it appears it's going to be a complete loss," said Mark Prosser, Storm Lake, IA Public Safety Director. John Hartnett, Tassler plant manager, says his main focus is his employees and customers. He says he'll try to transfer employees to their corporate offices in Webster City, Iowa. There they'll hope to increase production to help compensate for the loss of wooden pallets. "Right now my main concern is my employees here let them know I'm behind them and keep them working," said Hartnett. 13 other businesses were housed in that building. |
