2007-11-16 Chancellor Ethanol Plant Converting To Wood Power (By Brian Allen)
An alternative energy company will now itself use an alternative energy in it's production process.
Poet Energy's ethanol plant in Chancellor will soon begin using woodchips to power it's facility instead of natural gas.
The wood will come from Mueller Pallets of Sioux Falls.
The refineries general manager, Rick Serie, says the switch has several benefits. "Replacing 60% of our natural gas usage will decrease our production costs and make our process more environmentally friendly."
Mueller Pallets says it will be able to supply the Poet plant with upwards of 350 tons of wood per day.
