2007-07-19 Drugs among the tulips
Employees at a flower transport company in Aalsmeer found an enormous quantity of drugs among the pallets of flowers last week.
A total of 100 kg of hard drugs and 400 kg of soft drugs was hidden in the flowers, police announced on Wednesday.
The employees became suspicious when they noticed that some pallets were heavier than others. The police have arrested three suspects in connection with the case and are not ruling out further arrests. Two suspects are still being held in custody.
Employees first feared that explosives were hidden in the heavier pallets. The police were alerted and explosives experts called in. Upon inspection the heavier pallets proved to have hidden stashes of cocaine, amphetamines, hashish and cannabis.
