2007-05-24 Man dies in forklift accident
A man in his mid-40s was killed this morning when a forklift he was driving overturned and crushed him at a grass seed warehouse at 33390 McFarland Road, Tangent. The property is owned by Richard Good, but is believed to be leased to Bahrenbrug USA. According to Sgt. Jim Yon of the Linn County Sheriff's Office, the man had been loading pallets of bagged grass seed into a truck trailer and was backing out when a portable ramp slipped. The forklift began to fall and the man reportedly tried to jump clear, but was trapped under the machine. Attempts to extricate the man using another forklift failed, Yon said. Positive identification and notification of relatives had not been made at presstime.
