2007-05-02 Ihlein wins top job at Brambles
LOGISTICS company Brambles has promoted chief financial officer Michael Ihlein to the post of chief executive.
Mr Ihlein will take over the reins of Brambles — the group behind the CHEP pallet and Recall document management businesses — when outgoing chief executive David Turner steps down on June 30.
Announcing the appointment, Brambles chairman Don Argus praised Mr Ihlein's work as CFO, a role he took up on joining the company in 2004.
"With his strong commercial and financial acumen, and his solid understanding of Brambles' operations, Mike is uniquely positioned to lead Brambles as we build on the foundations which have been laid for the group's ongoing success," Mr Argus said.
Mr Ihlein said he was honoured to be given the top job at Brambles.
"Brambles has all the foundations in place to become one of the world's best premium logistics companies," Mr Ihlein said.
"We will achieve this through CHEP as the cornerstone of Brambles, together with the opportunity to achieve significant improvements in Recall."
