About the Instructor
Dr. Marshall "Mark" White
has been a member of the
faculty in the Department
of Wood Science & Forest
Products at Virginia Tech
since 1975. Originally from
New Jersey, Dr. White
received degrees from
Colorado State University
and Virginia Tech. Dr.
White is the former
director of the William H. Sardo Jr. Pallet &
Container Research Laboratory and the
Center for Unit Load Design. His research
and extension programs through the pallet
lab and the unit load design lab focused on
unit load materials handling efficiency.
Dr. White's expertise includes teaching
wood identification to National Park
Service personnel and curators for
Monticello and The White House. His
work for the FBI in forensics wood
identification led to the eventual capture
of the Unabomber.
In his new role as CEO of White & Co.,
Dr. White's consulting specialty will be in
packaging and pallet design solutions that
optimize supply chain performance.

The registration fees are $350 for Center
Members, $650 for Sponsors and $750 for
Non Members. The registration fee includes
all course materials, CEU certificate,
continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks
and lunch on the first day.
To register, complete and return the
attached form with payment. Advance
registration and payment is required to
confirm your enrollment. Your registration
form and fee should be returned no later
than May 1, 2007. Registrations after this
date should be confirmed with the
Conference Registrar at (540) 231-5182 to
verify space availability. Enrollment is
limited to 20 participants and will be on a
first come first served basis.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds will be honored when received seven
calendar days prior to the program. However, another person
may be substituted at any time for this program. A $25
administrative fee will be deducted for cancellations. In the
unlikely event that this program is cancelled or postponed
due to insufficient enrollments or unforeseen circumstances,
the university will fully refund registration fees but cannot be
held responsible for any other expenses, including cancel-
lation or change charges assessed by airlines, hotels, travel
agencies, or other organizations.

Location and Lodging
The program will be held on campus
at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton
Conference Center. A block of lodging
rooms is being held at the hotel.
