06-05-19 Strike over at pallet factory
Mike Wichers, chairman of United Steelworkers Local 1-1000, said this morning that 50 workers are back on the job after accepting the company's offer of a 50 cent per hour raise each year of a three-year deal that is retroactive to January.
Wichers said the company made an offer Tuesday morning and a vote was held in the afternoon with 37 workers in favour and five voting to turn it down.
Workers had been seeking a 60 cents an hour raise for each year of a two-year deal and adjustment to bonus clauses.
"We pretty well got what we asked for," said Wichers.
A company spokesman was unavailable for comment early Wednesday morning.
