06/03/06 Johnvince Foods "Planters Canada" Sees Supply Chain Benefits From CHEP Pallet Program

Johnvince Foods "Planters Canada", a leading
Canadian manufacturer/distributor, announced it has moved to the CHEP pallet
program to gain efficiencies throughout the supply chain. The company is now
shipping its full range of products on CHEP to all customers in the grocery,
wholesale, club, department store, drug stores, convenience stores and bulk
retail trade channels. They are also advocating the use of CHEP pallets with
their 300 vendors.
The pallet program Johnvince Foods previously used resulted in an
unacceptable number of failed exchanges and higher than expected repair costs.
The company needed a more efficient pallet management system for its internal
operations, and wanted to collaborate with its vendors to create an end-to-end
pallet solution. CHEP provides Johnvince Foods and its suppliers with a
comprehensive program that lets both groups focus on their core business
competencies.
"Our executive team wants us to work with our trading partners to sell
more product, and managing pallets detracts from that. The CHEP program allows
us to concentrate on selling and marketing, and delivers real value that shows
up in our P&L statements," said John Logarakis, Vice President of Special
Projects, Johnvince Foods. "Because of its ease of use and reduced
administrative hassles, several suppliers to Johnvince Foods have joined the
CHEP program and more are joining every week" recounts John.
Jason Adlam, Director, Sales and Customer Service, CHEP Canada said, "The
collaborative approach Johnvince Foods is taking with its pallet management
will result in significant benefits for everyone in the supply chain, and
improve the company's relationships with both retailers and suppliers."
