 2008-02-26 Chemical Pallets Available Nationwide

Chemical pallets are now available in the United States and in Canada from Compliance Packaging International Ltd. CPI offers used chemical pallets and is licensed to manufacture new chemical pallets under its license CP-984.

Over twenty five years ago chemical and plastics corporations in Europe decided to unify common chemical pallet sizes for the transport of chemicals and polymers.

Over the years many industries have adopted chemical pallets which are meant to be exchangeable and have common standards. In Europe, companies can receive a deposit back from their local pallet company for chemical pallets that they no longer need.

Chemical pallets are also called CP Pallets or CPs. There are 9 different chemical pallet designs known as chemical pallet 1, chemical pallet 2, chemical pallet 3, chemical pallet 4, chemical pallet 5, chemical pallet 6, chemical pallet 7, chemical pallet 8 and chemical pallet 9.

The most common chemical pallets used by North American industry, listed in order of most common to least common are the CP3, CP1, CP2, CP6, CP9, and CP8.

Like other packaging types, users have to consider two factors when choosing a chemical pallet for transport. First, how will the pallet be handled in the supply chain? Will the pallets be racked or floor stacked? Second, users have to determine what type of packaging will ride on the chemical pallets in transport. Chemical and plastics companies generally move their products using boxes, drums (plastic and steel), bags or supersacks.

Chemical Pallet 1 and Chemical Pallet 6 are pallets primarily used with sacks and boxes.

Chemical Pallet type 2 was designed to replace the europallet. American exporters sometime substitute this pallet type for EUR Pallets.

Chemical Pallet 3 and Chemical Pallet 9 are primarily used for drums and supersacks.

The Chemical Pallet 8 is only meant to move super sacks.
