03/08/05 A fire caused a big damage in Clinton

CLINTON, Iowa — A late-night fire Thursday in Clinton caused an estimated $125,000 in damage to a warehouse in the city's industrial district.

Firefighters responded to a fire call at A-1 Pallet Recovery, 587 Liberty Ave., shortly before 11 p.m. The fire was brought under control in 90 minutes, but firefighters continued working on hot spots through Friday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is unknown and it remains under investigation. The owner of the building, Mark Cady, did not have insurance, according to Clinton fire officials.

Eleven on-duty and 12 off-duty firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
