02/06/05 Quarantine Alert
The information here covers AQIS quarantine requirements only and is current on the date of transmission but may change without notice. Importers must satisfy quarantine concerns and comply with quarantine conditions applicable at the time of entry. It is the importer’s responsibility to verify the accuracy and completeness of the information at the time of importation.
It is the importer’s responsibility to identify and to ensure it has complied with, all requirements of any other regulatory and advisory bodies prior to and after importation including the Australian Customs Service, Therapeutic Goods Administration, Department of the Environment and Heritage, Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines Authority and any State agencies such as Departments of Agriculture and Health and Environmental Protection authorities.
Importers should note that this list is not exhaustive. Importers should also
note that all foods imported into Australia must comply with the provisions
of the Imported Food Control Act 1992 , an Act which is administered by AQIS.

ISPM 15 acronyms used in France and Spain
The purpose of this Alert is to inform AQIS inspectors, brokers, importers and related stakeholders to be aware of synonyms used for ‘ISPM 15’ which is the acronym for International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No 15 for Solid Wood Packaging Materials. France and Spain have different acronyms for ISPM 15 known as NIMP 15 and NIMF 15 respectively.
In accordance with World Trade Organisation (WTO) policy AQIS will accept packing declarations that use the acronyms ISPM 15, NIMP 15 or NIMF 15.
All other untreated timber packing associated with consignments will be subject to inspection, treatment, re-export or destruction with all options at the importer’s expense.
