26/09/05 Charges an option in construction site death

Police have called the death of an eight-year-old boy crushed by wooden pallets an accident but haven't ruled out the possibility of laying charges against the owners of the site.

The boy died Wednesday night when he was climbing on the pallets with a friend and several of them crashed on his head. The other boy suffered minor injuries.

"Our investigators are on the scene trying to find out if there was negligence in this case," Montreal police spokeswoman Anie Lemieux said Thursday.

The pallets were at a site owned by a construction company and didn't have a fence to keep people out.
