Brambles set to debut with £7bn market valuation


The biggest businesses in the new Brambles group will be Chep, Cleanaway and Recall : 80 % of the group profit and 90 % of its value. read complete article

Sir CK, Chief executive of Brambles, estimated that while Chep had penetratred the most part of the grocery market in the UK, it had only taken about 30 % of the continental Europe and US markets. The secondary markets to be tapped are cosmetic and health products, plants and flowers, vegetables and gardening equipment....

The old Brambles issued a profit warning 2 months ago : Sir CK said this was because of investment in Chep's plastic crate operations and difficult trading conditions in some of the businesses to be sold.

France is productive because its manufacturing sector is highly automted. It's because of the cost of the employing people in French.
Germany is productive because it has years of investment in the whole industrial infrastructure..
UK does have a productivity problem...
Half of Brambles shareholders will be in Europe, mostly in UK. Less than a quarter of Brambles revenues will come from Australia; Sir CK will spend weeks of his time back in UK.
